If you are thinking about what you need to pack on your bags for your trip to Rio, but do not really know how the weather might be, or when would be the best time to travel, don´t panic. Rio is a tropical city, warm and moist, most of the time!
In Rio you can expect two seasons:
December to April —> Really Warm and rainy OR
May to November —> Less warm, seldom rains.
Brazil does not have such a remarkable seasonal difference as in Sweden. I have so many memories such as when I used to bath in the sea during winter mornings… but that was a long time ago … by then I didn´t even even “know the difference between Switzerland and Sweden, lol.
But OK, here comes FIY Rio’s seasons’ table:
AUTUMN months – March, April and May
Starts around March 20
The temperature is mild with an average of 23C up to 15C.
That’s nice in average, but March is a period of heavy rain. Get ready for lots of rain! Maybe pack some rubber boots 🙂
Hint: there are fewer tourists here at this period.
WINTER months – June, July and August
Starts around June 20
It is usually dry or less humid.
The temperature is 22C on average, but can reach 13C.
SPRING months – September , October and November
Starts around 20 September
Comfortable temperature. On average 24C, but can reach 17C at night.
SUMMER months December, January and February
Starts around 20 December.
On average 26C and the maximum temperature can exceed 40C.
Very strong sun in the morning. Not often, but there may be short rainfalls in the afternoon.
